Build My Future

Motivational speakers, group activities and visits – tailored by career aspiration

Build My Future

On the 28th and 29th of November 2018, Northern Schools Trust agains host an enthralling programme of presentations and interactive seminars, to our cross-trust cohort of Year 12 students at the annual Build My Future Festival.

This unique, award-winning programme provides students with access to life changing opportunities, via direct interactions with university and employer partners.

Motivational speakers, group activities and visits – tailored by career aspiration – allow our young people to explore their professional curiosities. At the same time, they’re building a personal statement to rival pupils in more affluent settings and from independent schools.

The goal is to encourage and inspire students to take their first steps toward landing the job of their dreams. The team behind Build My Future work hard to empower young people to take ownership of their futures, with resounding success.

Now in its fourth year, Build My Future is hosted in collaboration with two prominent university sponsors, University of Central Lancashire and University of Liverpool. Some of the city region’s most influential businesses, including Astra Zeneca, Sequiris, Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospital, Fact, Shop Direct and Brabners – plus many more – also share their time and expertise.

Focused pathways include: health, life sciences, medicine & dentistry, creative, digital, engineering, social sciences and business & entrepreneurship.

Incredible local key note speakers frame the conversation for the two days, sharing their own journeys of aspiration and growth.

The event culminates in a motivational session, following which, students are given the opportunity to reflect on what they’ve taken away from the Build My Future experience.

Establishing itself as the go-to event for careers guidance in the north west, Build My Future is transforming the landscape of traditional careers support. With the help of external employer partners and academics, this is the only two day programme of its kind in the UK, providing Liverpool’s young people with unrivalled professional insight and the chance to explore their future career options proactively.
